Do you realize that your purchase of your vehicle within the past two years, or current purchase, in the state of Texas may be sales tax exempt? Contact the Texas State Comptrollers office if you have purchased a vehicle and had to pay sales tax within the past two years. You can request a form for the refund. You will have to send a copy of your receipt, and front & back copy of your Texas DL that shows the restriction “V” (Applicable vehicle devices – which means you have extensions/hand controls, etc., in order to drive). If you do not have that restriction, go back to your DMV office and request they add it to your DL. It is surprising how many LPs do not have the restriction – the officer issuing your license should realize and automatically require the restriction. But many do not, therefore, is not on the DL. In the case you are planning on purchasing a vehicle, new or used, you are qualified for sales tax exemption by the same restriction. WARNING: Frustratingly, many dealers’ finance offices will argue and insist that you must produce receipt of installation of the modifications to the vehicle, and then they will refund you the money – this is not true! You will have to stand firm, and may have to insist they contact the tax office to confirm that indeed you qualify for the exemption simply by providing the dealer with a front & back copy of your Texas DL with the restriction code, and the dealer will include the copy with the rest of the paperwork to the tax office when they file your information (Tax, title, license filing). Tell them to check out the “Texas Tax Manual, Rule 3.84, Effective May 3, 1982.” Again, insist, because they will want to put the tax on the loan papers and can deal with it later – the sales tax should not be included in the final finance papers.

Do you ever come across a car parked in a Handicapped spot without a placard? Or a car with a placard in a handicapped spot that is taking up the spot beside it, as well? Maybe the car parked next to the "Van Accessible" spot is too close, so you are not able to extend your ramp and safely exit your vehicle? THIS APP IS FOR YOU!!! It's called: "Parking Mobility"
This may be old news to some of you, but I AM EXCITED because this app is new news to me - and it is MUCH NEEDED! There are people I see all the time at large events and even in my apartment complex that do not have handicapped placards and are taking up spots where I could park.
Download this FREE app and be the solution to this problem! This app will allow you to look up locations of handicapped parking spots at your destination, you can add handicapped spots already in existence to the live map for others to see, and you can report handicapped parking misuse too. This app connects to local police agencies to report the misuse and will send the individual notice.
If you do not have a smart phone, you can log into the website and enter information, as well. Here is the website for more information: https://www.parkingmobility.com/
